Das Anschlagwinkeldreieck wird auch Sparrenwinkel oder Rafter Square genannt und hat die Form eines gleichschenklig-rechtwinkligen Dreiecks mit einem Anschlag an einer Kathete. Die Vielzahl an Skalen und Aussparungen machen aus dem Anschlagwinkeldreieck ein multifunktionales Werkzeug, das sich ideal zum Markieren von Linien und Winkeln sowie als Anreißwerkzeug und Sägeführung eignet. Anschlagwinkeldreiecke werden meist aus Stahl, Aluminium oder Kunststoff gefertigt und sind mit metrischen Maßeinheiten (Millimeter, Zentimeter) oder imperialen Maßeinheiten (Zoll bzw. Inch) versehen. Zu den gängigen metrischen Größen zählen 18 cm und 30 cm sowie die imperialen Größen 7 Inch und 12 Inch. Die unterschiedlichen Skalen und Aussparungen des Anschlagwinkeldreiecks sowie die praktische Anschlagkante sind besonders prädestiniert für das Arbeiten mit dem Werkstoff Holz – sei es beim Zimmern, Schreinern oder Tischlern. Ursprünglich stammt das Anschlagwinkeldreieck aus dem amerikanischen Raum, wo dieses bis heute hauptsächlich in der Zimmerei beim Dachaufbau und bei Dachsparren eingesetzt wird.
